Muscles will turn to fat if they are not used continually
False. If we do not exercise, there is not the stimulus for muscle mass to be maintained, so that
muscle can waste. The muscle itself does not turn to fat. However, if we continue to consume
more energy (kilojoules or kilocalories) than we need when we are not exercising, then we will
accumulate fat under the skin, around muscle and within the abdomen (known as omental fat).
