What's in food and why 'food variety'

This module commences by assessing your food and nutrition knowledge. It will help you develop a basic knowledge and understanding about what's in food. It will also examine and discuss the functional properties and potential health benefits of different foods. The importance of eating a variety of foods will also be explored.

Due to the large number of foods available and the emerging evidence about their health and nutritional properties, this module is more than double the length of all the other modules on offer (and thus the higher price). This module is also more interactive than the other modules to maintain interest and retention of the larger amount of information.

This module provides invaluable background knowledge in nutrition which will faciliate your understanding of the Healthy Eating Tips module.

This module is essential reading for anyone who is interested in their health and well-being, and especially for people working in the weight loss industry, the food industry or for people working as carers. It is best done before the Healthy Eating Tips module.

It is assessed with on-line true/false questions and multiple choice questions.
