Health benefits associated with eating eggs
 |
Eggs
are a nutrient dense (nutritious) food.
|
 |
Free
range eggs are a good source of omega 3 fats.
These
fats are thought to protect against heart disease
and mental health problems like depression
|
 |
Eggs
are a source of two carotenoids (pigments); lutein and
zeaxanthin.
These carotenoids are thought to protect against an
age-related eye disease (called macular degeneration)
would be good to show a picture of what this condition

Additional
Information
Eggs and cardiovascular
diseaseResearchers from the Harvard School of Public Health who followed
a large group of nurses (around 80,000) for about 14 years found that
there was no association between weekly egg consumption and coronary
heart disease or stroke. These same investigators also examined this
egg/cardiovascular disease relationship in more than 37,000 male health
professionals followed for 8 years. Again there was not association
between egg consumption and cardiovascular disease. Japan and France
have low rates of death from heart disease compared with most other
developed countries and both populations are high consumers of eggs.NB
Cardiovascular disease is a blood vessel disease (affecting circulation
especially to heart, and brain) CHECK DEFINITION WITH AGEFIT BOOK
